Alamos Torrontes 2009 ($9) The Alamos label is the “value line” from Nicolas Catena, whose wines have risen in popularity over the past 20 years. Their Torrontes comes from grapes grown in high-altitude vineyards in the Salta wine region of northwestern Argentina, and are then blended together to create the Catena style. Lighter than the others, the wine is almost pale in color but reveals a delicate yet beautiful bouquet of flowers, lemons and grapefruit. Plenty of fresh, lively flavors on the palate with crisp acidity and a quick finish. 2.5 Stars.
Like Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier? Then give the Alamos a sniff and a swirl.
